It was announced recently that CP Company has been sold by SPW Group to FGF Group. CP Company and Stone Island have always been very closely associated with each other, with the latter generally being perceived as being the more the senior brand even though CP Company started several years before.
It will be very interesting to see how CP Company is developed by the new owners. The early indications are that CP Company will keep close to its heritage but with a more sophisticated while still very technical product range with a luxury element and slightly more branding. Pricing looks like it will become more competitive as the range of items per category expands with different tiers below the very top end prices.
This could be very good for both Stone Island and CP Company brands, with the undivided attention on each allowing opportunities to be maximised. CP Company will hopefully step out from the shadow of it more reknowned younger brother.
It is reported that the money generated from the sale will be reinvested back into Stone Island with the SPW showroom in Milan already being completely dedicated to Stone Island.
